Default Weight Reduction

Anyone done anything along the lines of lightening the car? I mean, we have a heavy car, and getting rid of any excess weight will help the acceleration of the car.

Anyone know anyplaces that are familure with weight reduction on the 2005 Mustang?

Guess it all depends on how serious you are about the weight and how much you are trying to get rid of. First and most obvious would be to remove the rear seats. You could remove the passenger seat. Then the spare and jack. BMR Fabrication has a radiator support delete kit that takes about 26lbs off of the front of the car. You could replace the hood with a fiberglass hood. That might shave off a couple of pounds. While I do agree the 05 is sort of like driving a brick, you have to weigh ( no pun intended ) the options on the weight reduction. You are only going to gain about 1/10th per 100lbs.

Check the August 2005 issue of 5.0 Mustang and Superfords. There's an article on changing a stock 05 into a NMRA race car. They basically strip the car. They mention that the aluminum hood on the stang only weighs 25 lbs.
Best bet?
It might be easier to just go on a diet for a month! Drop 20 lbs. there, no prob!
