Default Xplan question clarification needed!

Ok,

I know this topic has been rehashed over and over on this board, but no one ever really talks about what the costs should be. Here's what I know.

X plan = A plan + 4% + $150.

Now I also know A plan is "Typically 4% under invoice" according to the FAQ. So

A plan = invoice - 4%

Thus

X plan = (invoice - 4%) + 4% + $150

Finally

X plan = invoice + $150

I know the -4% and +4% don't exactly cancel one another out, but for simplicity's sake I made them cancel one another.

Now I feel like I"m doing a math problem. When it's all said and done, it seems to me that the xplan price should hover somewhere over invoice cost by a few hundred dollars.

Now here's the big question. Where are the invoice prices? According to the following site invoice should be

http://www.invoicedealers.com/cars/F...577&trim=16636

GT Deluxe
Base Invoice Price: $23,066

GT Premium
Base Invoice Price: $24,128

So does this mean, I can get a GT deluxe from a dealer that takes Xplan for
invoice + $150 + whatever difference comes from adding and subtracting 4% from invoice cost.

I'd then expect a Deluxe GT to cost not much more than $23,500.

Is this right? It doesn't seem to be so according to the prices I've seen other members post. I know they get IUP and other things, but they seem to end up with prices closer to $26-$27K which doesn't seem to make sense to me. If I figure this to be correct, I'll forget buying a mustang used, I'll be going for a vista blue 06 GT.

Most people haven't been able to find dealers that will honor the X-Plan, so that might be why they are posting higher prices paid. I was able to find a dealer that honored the X-Plan and got my Premium GT for just over 25k. So, I think the prices you figured are probably about right. I think mine worked out to be about $80 over invoice.

I ordered an '06 GT deluxe on X-plan recently, here are the numbers from my VOC:

GT deluxe coupe retail: $25140 invoice: $23076
IUP retail $450 invoice: $401
Side airbags retail: $370 invoice: $329
FDAF assessment invoice: $300 (no retail price listed)
Dest and deliv. $675 (same for retail and invoice)
2 gallons gas invoice: $3.84 (no retail price listed)

Total MSRP $26635, invoice $24784.84

A/Z plan price $23780.84
D plan price $23880.84
X plan price $24760.70

It may not answer your question, but it's one data point.

Nick Wright
