Default Securing tools in trunk

Hey guys, I just recently purchased my 06 mustang and I've noticed that the carpet is very slippery in comparison to my old car. I keep a socket set and a wrench set(and a few other things...chamois, umbrella, etc...) in my trunk.

My problem is that everything seems to slide around in the trunk and I can hear my socket set and wrench sets flying around in my trunk when i take turns, brake, or accelerate harder than normal. I can't be the only person with this problem. What have you guys done to solve this problem??

I found a double wide milk crate. I put a emergency tool kit, umbrella, small detailing supply kit.I have a smaller one for long trips.I keep a small floor jack and some other handy tools. Its prolly not the nicest looking container but it gets the job done.

I found that a tool bag with either a canvas or rubberized bottom works well. I keep one stocked with cables, some tools, and let's not forget duct tape.

hmm...I want it to look nice in the trunk...like factory as well.

Partsbill I like your setup, I saw it earlier today, but i dunno how my sockets and ratchets will be neatly organized.

Try this: http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com...t_detail&p=123

It's the CDC Detail Corral.

Get a shallow plastic tub from wally world and some adhesive velcro.
Place the hook portion of the velcro to the bottom of the shallow tub.
It will stay stuck wherever you place it on the slippery trunk carpet.
Tall tubs work good for hauling groceries.

I've got all the soft items (blankets, towels, soft lawn chair) lining the sides and back of the trunk. Don't have to worry about something "breaking loose" and making sheet metal damage... I keep tools in a Craftsman soft tool box... works awesome...

I keep my tools in a canvas bag. It doesn't slide around. But the old CD player case that I keep my Xcal2 in is too light and sometimes breaks free from IT'S location. I may have to bite the bullet and look into the Detail Corral or some other organizer.
