Aftermarket Nav
According to my aftermarket guy, only the stock nav unit is compatible with the sync tech, etc. in the 2010. No aftermarket navs will work. Hopefully he is mistaken but i did listen to him talk to the manufacturer (on speakerphone) who confirmed this. He did say that Ford would start offering the factory nav to those who did not buy the car with it equipped around christmas hopefully. I really want nav so i'm hoping either his aftermarket intel was wrong or that ford really does offer a kit by xmas!
$3,600.00
No friggin' way would I pay that much for a touchscreen and Navigation.
I asked my Ford dealer about adding it after the fact..... Evidently, there's a "Generation 1" and a "Generation 2". The Generation two has Sync and Generation 1 does not. Whopping price for the Generation 2:

I had a stereo expert from Bestbuy (Yes the chain store, I've seen his work and it's absolutely pro!) take my stock radio apart to see what needed to be done to add nav. He said it's possible but since there isn't a kit available a lot of work would have to be done.
First problem is that the Air conditioning and stereo share one PC board so that mean he would have to make a custom slide out that would only show AC controls all while hiding the stock non functional stereo controls.
Second problem is that the factory radio must stay in te vehicle so he'd have to rewire it to the trunk.
Third is just for the install labor was $800 dollars, yup labor only and it would take a week! The price isn't that bad considering that it's custom and I've seen the work he's done. I might actually do it.

Ditto. I knew I wanted to get the factory system after installing an after-market in the '05 Mustang. The $1910 was worth it for the additional items that came in the package.
