Car thunder.
Well, the 2010's have rolled in, and everyone is just all abuzz about THAT. Some may not want to admit it but there's a growing rivalry between the 05-09s and 2010's, just like there was a rivalry between the SN95 and S197 owners back in 04. Personally I think the 2010 looks cheap and ugly, but I bet some '10 owners would love to tell me how theirs looks more like a classic. Don't think so.
But anyway. They're going to move in and steal our thunder, like what happened with the SN95. I think they still call it an S197, but it's a whole new car. They're even putting in a new engine; more horsepower stock. Bet that'll make the '10 owners feel like ****.
Wouldn't a new engine jack up the price of the car?
Anyway, people are going to start paying more attention to the new little 2010's and '11s, and forget all about the S197's. It's like ford had a new baby.
Just a rant.

The forum has been there; done that. But this thread will still be cause for some flaming. But as one automotive writer put it (maybe not in these exact words), the '05-'09 is arguably better looking than the '10. I'm sure if I HAD a '10 I'd feel differently but we all have our opinions and everyone is entitled to love their Stang.
As far as the engine in the '10 vs. the '05-'09, it's the same except for the stock CAI & tune. Put the equivalent aftermarket CAI & custom tune on BOTH and the car's are matched in crank HP. But you're correct about what's to come with the '11 and up. It WILL be interesting.

I'm looking forward to the new motors for the '11s.. Maybe the price of parts will go down for ours.. Superchargers, cams, yadda yadda yadda

I like the look of the 2010 but with the cars being the same under the hood it seems like a waste. Should have held it back a year and launched it with new powertrain.
My buddy says the 2010 looks like a 2005-9 mixed with a shark, I can kinda see that.

happens every 4-5 yrs with Ford. For some reason the Sn95 + New Edge had extremely long runs. Guess Ford didn't want to mess with a winning combo.
I would personally classify the 2010 as a different car from the 05-09's.
When the new motor/tranny appear in 2011, there is no question they should be split out IMO. there will be enough differences that you cannot make a general statement about a 2005 and have it hold mostly true for a 2011 model.
We are already almost there with the 2010 models. The skin & interior changes are pretty significant. The motor in 2011 will just seal the deal.
if you are annoyed by the 2010 changes...just consider what it will do for your car besides lower the value. The S197 will get cheaper so more people can enjoy them...and more importantly IMO, the goodies for them will drop in price. Look how cheap a Sn95/New Edge performance part is compared to those for a S197

I sat in a 2010 for the first time a day ago and I have to say they fixed alot of the big interior problems...but they ruined the car with the back end. I just can't get over how bad it is!
