Default Cracked windshield?

My GT has a couple of chips in the windshield. One was repaired but doesnt look very good any more. The other is new from yesterday

If I get my windshield replaced, can I get an OEM match through my insurance, do you think?

Yes. My friend has a 02 Mustang and cracked his. The insurance replaced it with an exact match, to include the pony in the center above the rear view mirror.

Is it just me or does it seem like our windshields suck? Every nano-pebble that hits it will cause a chip. My windshield is full of various sized chips.

The glass is made in Mexico and is of lower quality or so I've been told.

Wonderful! That explains why they are so easy to chip!

Yah it's pretty terrible if you drive on roads that get sand and gravel during parts of the year. I had this car for only a few months when some pickup truck threw a rock on it and chipped it real bad. The guy came out to fill it in the next day and it ran on him. Had to have the whole windshield replaced on a car I had just bought earlier that year. :/

I have had 4 cars and 4 chips.

grand am (think i had the windshield replaced)
g35 coupe (cracked but never replaced, small crack)
mustang gt (cracked, repaired for 15)
fusion (cracked, replaced, cracked, fixed) it was 200 to replace it, it cracked on the fusion shortly after i got it replaced, figures huh?

parents have had 3 windshields in their suburban so far.

its not the glass, its the trucks usually.

just yesterday i was trying to get past a dump truck and all i could hear on the windshield was the sound of sand hitting the glass. im sure its good for the paint too.

I could see the car ahead of me kick up the rock, I saw it bounce, and then SMACK right in the windshield

hey big canoe...yes there are 2 different versions of our windshields...the OEM one that has the running pony at the top center (in front of the rear view mirror) and an aftermarket one, that has no pony.

I have had my windshield replace on an 03 V6 and they used an OEM windshield with the pony emblem on it. On my 06 GT, I had spots in the windshield from following a truck the had sand and pebble leaking from it. Lots of little pock marks. Had it replaced when I had an accident. Much better quality glass this time.
