Default Newbie Too!

Wife just bought a new 2010 Silver Mustang GT Premium and I'm trying to get her involved on a good forum so she can learn more about her car. Same for me - I don't know a lot about new Mustangs (I drive a 09 Challenger RT). Here's our story: When I originally bought my Challenger, it was supposed to be my wife's car, but after hundreds of "can I borrow your car?" requests, she finally gave it to me on our anniversary and she got - the 07 Suburban. I thought I was being slick in getting her to buy my dream car, but soon realized what a huge mistake it was, especially once I realized how much she hated the Suburban. I told her I would buy her another new car but she said no, we needed a family car, couldn't justify the expense, etc. Needless to say, I felt like a real jerk and kept bringing up getting a new car, to no avail, until three days ago. She suddenly announced she HATED driving the Suburban and wanted a new car. I said go for it (within certain parameters) and she began her search.

The Challenger was out, not her thing (she admitted she originally picked it because of me), so it came down to the Camaro and the Mustang. I have to admit, she spent three solid days researching both and knew more about each car than the salesmen did. After one misfire with a dealership, she picked the car - a 2010 Mustang GT Premium auto. While not my cup of tea, she loved it and it was hers, so we bought it a couple nights ago thru the internet sales rep. Well under dealer invoice plus another $2000 off in incentives (around $30,000-31,000). The dealer sticker with all the add-ons was about $39,000. The Suburban is gone (got another $8000 off) and I am no longer in the doghouse, thank God.

Today I drove it and I have to admit, I am impressed. It is fully loaded, has a CAI installed and the electronics package and navigation/stereo system is amazing, in fact, better than the Challenger (stereo is about equal). Steering is great, suspension is for performance handling and it will fly. Sounds like it has a bigger engine than it does. I suspect it will be faster than my R/T once it is broken in. Downside: it is smaller inside than the Chally and the backseat leg room is laughable. The trunk space is actually pretty good.

Anyway, she's happy so I'm happy. For those interested, I'll post up some times for the Mustang and the Chally, once her car is broken in. I'm curious to see what it will do myself. Apparently I can't post pics yet other than the avatar. Hopefully, I haven't put anyone to sleep.

That hurt. Actually, I'm practicing being more sensitive and I learned a long time ago, if they are happy, I can be happy. I'm a retired AZ State Trooper and been in the Army/Army Reserve 31 yrs (I'm a Chief Warrant Officer 4), I noticed you're retired Navy. What did you do/how many years? Thanks for you're service!

I can't post pics yet, guess I haven't hit the magic post number yet.

Congrats on the new purchase and congrats to your wifey. ^_^

I like the stripe package on your... er, I mean, her Mustang. I plan on getting a stripe package on mine, but I can't decide which one I like best so I have to kind of wait.

and welcome to MF!

Sorry, my sensitive side says! You had to know on a Mustang site, that's the way we roll! Anyways, I did 20 as a Firecontrolman (weapon system type fire). Thanks for your service! What did you do in the Army?

I enlisted (infantry) and served in the 1/75th Ranger Battalion and a airborne infantry company in Alaska. Spent 10 yrs in Special Forces (Reserves) and the remainder in Intelligence as a counterintelligence agent. Going for 40 yrs. Good time!
