Car won't start sometimes...
So I go to start the car and it sputters and dies, so try again same result, once more and again the same. Then I realize the smell of lots of raw fuel, I can see fumes all over the garage. So I figure car is flooded, pull the fuel pump relay and try and start and the car starts idles fine for a few and dies of course no fuel now. So plug the relay back in and bam, car starts right up idles fine, drive to work no problem!
I've switched relays, the rail pressure sensor and just yesterday the driver module in the trunk. I'm at a total loss. Sometimes It'll be fine, yesterday all day no problems at all. Now today at lunch it did this again, but pulling the relay didn't help. I had to hold RPMs up at say 2000 for a bit and then it would idle, but then driving for a bit the pressure would jump up and down, but then after getting to lunch and starting the car again it was fine! I'm so lost on this one.
Any help?!?

This is a shot in the dark since I'm not too mechanically inclined with this stuff, but maybe the fuel pump? I only say that because my g/f VW Bug did something similar. Would start but immediately shut down. After about then min. of that, it ran just fine (though it started with a lot of rumbling) all the way home. After that, it didn't want to start again. AAA actually came out and did a couple little tests. He ultimately said it was the fuel pump (got it started by having us turn the key while he tapped on the fuel pump itself. We brought it to the dealership where they had to replace it. Or maybe it was a filter...or sensor. Shiat. Can't remember.
Like I said, shot in the dark.

Not 100% Sure here but it could be your Throttle Position Sensor, My 5.0 did exactly the same thing you're explaining, I started it up and the RPMs went up and right back down and the car shut off, I have to hold the gas for a while until the car catches on and then it idles just fine. Have a mechanic check if your throttle position sensor is ok.
