Default Rear Ride Height

Hy all, I installed a while ago the ford suspension kit, which has eibach springs and got tokico shocks. I am running on 285/40/18. I find the front height is perfect but the rear still sits too high. What should I do; cut the springs or try to find sportlines for the rear only. I`ve also replaced the upper and lower control arms and the panhard bar. I went back to my original lower control arms, the BMR aluminium ones are making noise(clunking) which I havn`t figured out why.
Thanks to those who reply...........................

How much lower would you like the rear to sit?

The Ford Racing K springs have a 1.5" drop at all 4 corners and the sportline rears are around 2"...if that's the distance you want taken up, then there's your answer.

But just pay attention to where the rear of your car will sit in relation to the front...you'd hate to have the rear sitting lower.

I want my wheel gap to be the same front to back. In the front I have about 1.5 inches between the wheel and the fender lip and the rear about 2 inches. So i'm trying to lose about half an inch in the rear. I'm thinking of cutting th rear springs.

wow, a 1/2"....I'm not a fan of cutting springs, so I can't recommend that route.

Are you sure it's not something that you could get use to over time? If it were an 1" or more, I'd be right there with you about wanting to replace them with something else, but a 1/2"? Maybe someone else will chime in with a real good suggestion.

Sorry I wasn't more help.

I have heard of a guy using the prokit springs on the front of his Mustang, and using the Sportlines in the rear. It gave his car a perfectly level stance. You could also cut the springs... just make sure you do this in small increments... once you cut too much out of the springs you are screwed! Because like stated above, you do not want the rear to sit lower than the front. That looks much worse

That thumbnail picture is deceiving due to the non-flat ground contour, and makes the rear of the car look much taller than it really is. Do you have a picture with the car sitting on flat ground?

Really, I think that worrying over half an inch is being just a bit too fussy, as the car won't stay at that particular rake all of the time (and will barely stay within that half inch front to rear difference even if you never load the trunk up full of stuff). Consider what happens when you and a passenger get into the car, a full vs empty fuel tank, or any number of things that add weight to the rear are either added or removed.

On edit, even the difference in front vs rear tire wear can account for about 1/4" of front vs rear tire-to-fender gap. For all I know, some of whatever difference in the car now comes from this, with the rear tires possibly being worn more than the fronts not being any big surprise in a moderately powerful RWD car.

This post isn't intended as flame, I'm just pointing out things that will affect appearance with respect to this particular topic.

FWIW, even though your car is on an incline, it looks great....I wouldn't sweat the 1/2". Focus on doing something else to the car..LOL!!
