TOP MPH? Whats Yours?
Was heading south down the interstate coming from Little Rock, Arkansas to Texas a little over a year ago. A RX8 was not letting me pass him in some stingy traffic for about half an hour going about 80 or so. I finally found my opening, he started tailgating me. With nobody in front of me, in sight, I punched to about 135 for about a minute or so to get him off my ***, I did not push it further to try to max it. I left him way back. Then I get south of Dallas, and am going about 85, I see a cop on the shoulder, I slow down behind a big rig before I get to the cop and she pulls me over. Ended up doing defensive driving to take care of that ticket in Italy, Texas. Not much of a town there LOL.
Well I know for sure that I have done over 150mph in mine..... I know this because the Police told me that I was averaging 147mph for about 2 miles when they were fronting a case against me in court!!
Unfortunately I also have the record to prove it and the newspaper and internet article that was written about it!!
It was about 2 in the morning in the middle of nowwheresville...... not my proudest moment!!
The fastest I have been is in my TVR Sagaris... backing down from 185mph.... things sure do approach you fast at that speed, and when there is no traction control, airbags, ABS etc, just a roll cage and a fiber glass body between you and death it's exhilarating and **** scary at the same time:

TVRs are renowned for leaving you dead in a ditch! The older ones have always had break neck acceleration but terrible handling, however, the newer ones (2005 onwards) have had a complete facelift and complete overhaul on their handling.
The Sagaris was set up by the same guy that set up the handling on the Noble which is one of the best handling cars in the world. However, the TVR as a finished product wasn't exactly A1. The car looks amazing both inside and out but you have to be prepared for bits to fall apart! I think I had driven about 5 miles after picking up the car and the carpet on the passenger side footwell had started to hang!!
But you don't buy a TVR without expecting this sort of thing..... you buy it for its' speed and looks!
It had a 4 liter NA engine pushing out about 480 hp once I had a few tweeks done to the engine.... specs were:
0-60 in 3.2 secs (if you could ever get the power down to the road!)
0-150 in 21 secs!
As for bringing one into the USA... I'm not sure if you can.... to bring it in line with safety laws over here would take a lot of funds.... like I said before, for a modern day car it was pretty much a track car that had been toned down just slightly to make it road legal in the UK. No ABS, no traction control, no airbags etc!
Take a look at this:

and this gives an explanation as to why no sale in the USA:

Enjoy!
I just feel lucky to have owned one of these and to have driven one!

How quick?
Hit 140, then shut it down. And just the one time. There's no need to be going that fast. Plus, I like the quick acceleration more than the top speed. Did this on the 417 South Bound, for all the Orlando boys. Completely empty about mid morning, no cars for miles.

I got mine up to 145 stock, and it felt like it would easily get up past 155 or 160. I havn't tried to push that hard since. I regularly get it up to 100 or even 110, but I know had expensive those tickets can be so I try to keep her in double digits. The pesky law gets in the way all the time.
