08 Sirius Portable install
I have an 08 GT with the Shaker500 and factory Sirius radio. I also have a portable Sirius Stilletto radio that I use in another vehicle and in my shop. I prefer to use the Stilletto and would like to install it with an in-car kit and mount but would prefer to use the factory antenna. Does anyone know how the factory antenna is integrated into the harness and if I can adapt it for use with the Stilletto receiver?

The OEM Sirius received is in the trunk and
thats where the antenns lead you want is.
Its mounted on the right side of the trunk (behind the
shaker1000 speaker/amplifiers if so equipped).
The antenna lead on the back of the dash mounted
radio is for the AM/FM receiver thats in it.
The SAT receiver is located in the trunk and
is only CONTROLLED by the in dash unit.
The OEM antenna lead will have to be extended
up to the dash console area. A good quality
coax with low loss at SAT frequencies will
be mandatory in use as well as the proper
antenna connectors installed on it
Thats a big task even with a good knowledge of
SAT antenna connectors used in the industry.
Not easy for the casual Stilletto listener.

There must be a way to convert the exisiting sat antenna to extend into the passenger compartment. I'd certainly consider that. Otherwise, your install is a breeze.
157db, since I bought a Shaker 500 out of an '08 to replace the Shaker 500 in the g/f's '06 (no Sirius) will I be able to set her up with Sirius or do I need a seperate receiver? I thought the Shaker 500's were Sirius ready and nothing more than a sat antenna was required.

Nuke- agreed the only thing that has concerned me is the antenna. I like the Stilletto better because I can record directly from the sat when I like a song and can use it as my MP3 player when I can't find something on that I like.
157db- thanks for the good information. I'll have to try and locate the Sirius receiver in the trunk and see what the antenna cable looks like. I used this one in the shop for my outside mounted antenna. It's way to long for a car but if the connectors are the same maybe it will still work.

I went back and reread your original post, if you are talking about the antennae that actually plugs into the back of the Shaker 500 it's a regular antennae plug. I've had mine out more than once.

For aftermarket you can get a Sirius receiver, antenna, and the Sirius FM adapter to plug into the back of your Shaker 500 for static free reception. But you can't control the Sirius receiver with that set up, only the volume.
You can purchase an antenna extension from Sirius. They make a 20' and 50'. I have a lifetime subscription on a Sportser 5 that gets shared between two vehicles. This is what I did. I purchased the 20' extension, disconnected the antenna from the factory reciever, plugged in the extension, and ran it up to the dash. This is probably the solution that offers the least amount of headache, and leaves all of the factory stuff intact.
