Default Mid Mufflers

Okay maybe this is just a dumb idea...

So bear with me on this one please. I really dont like the axle back muffler idea since thats what every civic and wrx has. So I was thinking what would happen if I had weld flowmasters or borla stingers as a mid muffler system? I know pypes has a mid muffler system Im just wonder what if I did this with a different muffler. Would it sound different than having axle backs or sound the same? Has anyone done this before? Would it make it sound more like a 2v mustang? Just curious... Thanks MFers.

Hey there.

I thought I once read of someone doing this (only with Pypes own mufflers) and using muffler deletes out back. I hope they respond, but I recall they liked the sound, and not at all like the axle back sound.

I'm currently installing Pypes' mid-muffler system and I'll have a quick review of install tips to post next week. Here's a spoiler: I'm not a happy camper with the difficulty of fitment. Actually, "rage" better describes it. I don't think I'd ever even think of using another Pypes product. Ok, that's a lie...I'd probably think it, then get all in a fresh rage again (like I'm getting in now...so I'll stop).

I think your idea might be easier, but I'd like to hear others comment on it.

Best,
-j

Are cars will never have the 2v or 3v sound. I dont think you could use flows or stinger as a midmuffler set-up with out some fabrication as there is not too much room to fit the mufflers. Rousch has just introduced a mid-muffler set-up that is not suppose to drone. On another forum someone made a midmuffler setup with magnflow magnpack bullet mufflers and combined it with a SLP LM.

smaller bullet style mufflers will fit, like M80's, magnapacks, dynomax bullets, SLP shotguns, etc.

it wont sound like the foxbody or sn95 or new edge mustangs, but it will sound different than the axle back setup.

Mid mounted flows, while a tight fit, sound pretty damn good IMO. It's the only time flows sound really good on here. The new classic AB sounds pretty decent though, but it's too expensive.

somebody did that, the flows, i want to say maybe (MAYBE) 1morepart? anyway i remember a pretty extensive write up at one time about it. i want to say it required a lot of fab tho as you know its a tight fit around the tanks and ds. but like onederfull100 said, if i were to do it all again, i would just purchase two Pypes M80s (or even the dynomax bullitt) from jegs and weld them in and do a delete through your fav company for the axelback. we dont need to discuss the fitment of the pipes MM system anymore, we have beat that company up enough already. the magnapacks i suppose would sound good as a MM. let us know

I think I'm just gonna go with m80s since everything else in my exhaust is pypes I was just wondering how this would turn out with other mufflers.
