Default down shifting problems...

was wondering what yall think...

was doin 80mph in 5th gear and decided to go to 4th gear(not to race, just got bored) and when i just get off the clutch and have the gas to the floor the car hickuped...3 times in a matter of 5 seconds maybe. the rpms werent goin up during this time nor the speed so its hard to say its the tranny or clutch slipping(for me at least, idk much though). to me i'm thinkin it felt like no fuel was getting to the engine but again, idk much. please help me out! oh and is this something that should be addressed quickly and take it to a mechanic. oh and i have a bbk cai, 93 oct. tune, slp lm axle back and frpp 4.10s(would any of these void the warrenty?)

This sounds a little like a problem I had/have. I'd downshift from 5th at about 60 to 3rd and go WOT and she'd just sit there for a few seconds and then slowly begin to wind up. This also happened from a dig at a light. I finally caught, out of the corner of my eye, my traction control icon on the speedometer face the last time it occured. Since then, with TCS "OFF", it hasn't happened once.

When you said hiccuped, THAT sounds like the fuel pump TSB issue. My g/f's '06 V6 had it. After a steady cruise, air bubbles form in the fuel pump. When you go to accelerate she'd hesitate and buck (the car; NOT the g/f) for a second or three. The car was still under warranty and the TSB resolved the issue.

Sounds exactly like the TSB issue to me: http://www.stangnet.com/images/stori...SBs/06-9-9.pdf

If this is a dumb question I am sorry, (so don't flame too bad) but I aint no mechanic lol.

Do these engines have coilpacks? My previous F150 had the same problem and I had to replace a bad coilpack.

Sounds like the classical fuel pump TSB.

odd, i bought the car last year...if the TSB date stamp is Sept. 9th of 06 then the dealership should have done this right? if not oh well when i get back to VA i'll bring it up with them...hopefully my warrenty is still good, i'm guessing though that sence this was a pre-existing condition it shouldn't matter what mods i have done to the car right?

TSB's are NOT recalls... the only reason the dealer might do it, is if they encountered it on a test drive.
I doubt they would have test driven the car under the conditions required for the problem to occur. If your out of warranty, expect to be charged for all/some of the repair.

Did you increase the revs before you lifted the clutch in fourth? If not, you're car was just letting you know that you need to learn how to downshift.
