I have the same thing... if I am driving and let go of the steering wheel, it starts subtle, but then it starts to get abrupt to the point where I will change lanes. It goes to the left.

I don't think it's my tires bc when they were new, and freshly balanced it still did it

Very annoying

it could be the tie rod or tie rod ends if the steering wheel actually is loose feeling

I don't mean to hijack the thread bc my issue may be different, but no... it happens on smooth streets too.

I believe 08SGT is asking about "play" where the wheel turns left to right more than normal with no change in direction. I'm not sure how to reduce play in our S197's but it could be reduced a bit on my old GM vehicles.

gburke1, I think your issue is a "pull" and not "play". If your car is pulling, then you should have the suspension and alignment checked. It can also be a tire problem other than balance. A shifted belt can cuase that, too. Since you're still under warranty, have the dealer check it out. I'd suspect they'd correct it under warranty no matter what the issue is.

08SGT, where in York? I lived in York county from 1990 to 2007.

Steering play can be caused by underpressurized front tires tires, loose/worn tie rod ends, worn ball joints or struts, or defective steering box or steering column universal joint, just to name a few.

Have someone sit in car a wiggle wheel back and forth, watch under hood
see where play is in shaft, u-joints--couplings--rack--tie rod ends.
If still warranty, take to dealer, I have over 35k miles and no play in wheel.

My car pulls to the left as well. Took it to the stealership and had an alignment done and they didnt change a damn thing and stilll charged me for a 4 wheel alignment, even though you cant adjust toe or camber on the rear wheels since we have a solid axle.

My bet is still the tie rod/ tie rod ends i just had to redo the front end of my DD becuase the tie rod was all f'ed up and i could turn the steering wheel to 10 or 2 without the wheels even turning
