I have to drive my stang sometimes when that terrible brine has been put on the streets
.What areas under the car should I aim the wand when I go to the car wash?

FWIW, even high pressure washing won't help as much as you think. You'd think that you're rinsing all the salt off but in reality you're forcing some of it deep into crevices where it'll simply turn your car into a Rustang. Sorry but that's about the truth of it.

i figure that my stang will last about 10 years in NYC before it's kaput from salt.

When there's salt on the roads, I try my best to leave the Mustang in the garage, but every time I open the door, and see my baby sitting there, just rarin' to go, I actually feel pain, I wanna go driving!!!!!

Who knows how long I'll keep this one, but surely, not long enough for it to become a "rustang".
I hate winter!!!!

It definitely hurts. The 1st 2 winters I owned my Stang while I was in Kentucky it sat in my garage unless the roads were dry and clean. sometimes I wouldn't drive it for 3-6 weeks at a time but at least I was able to open the door and there she was. But now that I'm in the Chicago area, both my GT and the g/f's Pony are in storage in her uncle's pole barn about 1 1/2 hour away. Mine went into storage in November and they're not coming put until the end of March/early April. Talk about going into withdraw.

For the OP, for peace of mind, pressurewash the undercarriage the best you can especially the wheel wells. Expect to get on your hands and knees and really work over the undercarriage. Ideally, if you could get the car on a lift on occasion and use low pressure like a garden hose and thoroughly irrigate the undercarriage that would be best. But who gets the opportunity to do that?

The brine they put down isn't really the big problem as it isn't as bad as the salt and other chemicals that they lay down AFTERWARDS as the snow begins to kick in.

Look at it this way... In a few years you'll be looking at another newer Stang with the 5.0...

I didn't realize the salt did that much damage! I am in NJ and I just want to drive all the time since I just got the 08 GT a month ago. I really thought in this time salt wouldn't be so damaging....Now I have to find a way to clean the bottom of my car somehow on a lift!!

salt + moisture = corrosion. the days when its real wet and slushy are gunna be the worst for it. just try and keep it washed anytime you see that nice white coating on your car... we get a ton of lake effect snow up here so my car stays in the garage all winter. Gotta have a good winter rat with some snow tires on it up here
