281 0r 298?????
option 1 stroked and forged to 298 cost $4500
option 2 stay 281 forged $4000 minus $1000 sell the block
i will remove and install the block. i am blown now. i will run about 12-13 psi.
question... how much more hp will i get from the 298 if everything else is the same?
i am leaning to staying 281 but would like some input thanks

I'd stay at 281 but I'm old school in bore x stroke thinking. Shorter stroke = faster revving. Faster revving = faster acceleration. Longer stroke = flatter torque curve. Twin screws have very flat torque curves to begin with.
Just one man's opinion.

if i use my shory block it will be about $4300 i was looking at the one frpp for $4000 shipped to my door and then sell my block. To pay for all the extras i need.
i am just debating on staying the same 281 or bumping up to 298.

So then are you saying your either going to buy a Aluminator or put in a forged rotating assembly and stroke your current block? For fair comparison, aslo need to know how much of the labor your going to do?

298 is 6% more displacement than 281, but with the same valve sizes and bore diameter you probably won't quite get 6% more power out of it either NA or at the same boost level. Might be worth 1/4 second.
