Default 281 0r 298?????

option 1 stroked and forged to 298 cost $4500
option 2 stay 281 forged $4000 minus $1000 sell the block

i will remove and install the block. i am blown now. i will run about 12-13 psi.
question... how much more hp will i get from the 298 if everything else is the same?
i am leaning to staying 281 but would like some input thanks

how are you seeing a cost diffenence and a block for sale?

Seems like you can get the best of both if you reuse your stock block and install the stroke kit.

I was hoping to forge my internals on my 06 gt. I can afford the parts themselves, but I don't have the know how to install them. Install was too costly for me.
I'd stay with your stock block and forge internals.

I'd stay at 281 but I'm old school in bore x stroke thinking. Shorter stroke = faster revving. Faster revving = faster acceleration. Longer stroke = flatter torque curve. Twin screws have very flat torque curves to begin with.

Just one man's opinion.

if i use my shory block it will be about $4300 i was looking at the one frpp for $4000 shipped to my door and then sell my block. To pay for all the extras i need.
i am just debating on staying the same 281 or bumping up to 298.

Your logic is giving us headaches. You can use your current block you have for either combination you want.

So then are you saying your either going to buy a Aluminator or put in a forged rotating assembly and stroke your current block? For fair comparison, aslo need to know how much of the labor your going to do?

298 is 6% more displacement than 281, but with the same valve sizes and bore diameter you probably won't quite get 6% more power out of it either NA or at the same boost level. Might be worth 1/4 second.
