Kooks + HotRod + Stock Muff test
I just put my stock mufflers back on to see what it's like with Kooks LT + Kooks catted H and FRPP Hot Rod cams. I did have boomtubes on.
I think on the outside it sounds great. It's a little loud, but not too much and not crazy loud like with the boomtubes. The tone at idle and revving is great. I think I like it a little more than the boomtubes.
The only bad thing, is on the inside it's quiet as ****. Crusing you can't hardly hear anything (which reminds me of Corsas) and I like to hear it. I don't want loud annoying drone, but I like to hear a RRRRRR as I go. Also, if I quickly stab the gas a little I like to hear a little rev but I can barely hear it. With the windows down it's a little better, but over all, on the inside there just isn't that loud muscle car sound. The tone is good but not loud enough on the inside, but VERY good on the outside. Damn it.
I was able to go WOT on my test drive once and it did sound good. Not as loud as I'd like, but not out-of-control, "rattley"/trumpety like with the boomtubes.

So now I need to find a middle ground. Not as crazy as the boomtubes but louder than stock. Something that with my header setup stays smooth unlike the boomtubes (or any other delete).
I hear that the Magnaflow STREET mufflers (which Brenspeed has) are not much louder, if any, than stock. So I don't know about those. The Borla NON-stingers sounds pretty good from the video I watched, but are way too expensive. I'm really curious what the Flowmaster CLASSIC sounds like with headers + high-flow cats or O/R. At this point I really don't know.

I've thought about GTAs as well.
I've also thought about slapping my Corsas back on for a few days (since no one has bought them yet) just to see what that's like. But I dunno.
I really like how it sounds now from the outside, but the inside is just too quiet. I can hear too many squeaks and too much road noise now, lol!
