Default 2011 C/D article

I find a couple things interesting.

To meet the production deadline of January, Mike Harrison, the V-8 program manager, had to cut 12 months from the normal development schedule, which meant eliminating an entire prototype phase.
If you’re looking for Ford to make further improvements on the Mustang, well, you’re going to have to wait. There are no plans to launch the 2012 model early next year. Fortunately, the 2011 model should keep us entertained during the 21 months it will take for the calendar to catch up.
Wonder why the rush? I know the Camaro...but I figure the sales of that car would have leveled off anyway with the loyalists already buying a '10.

Ford’s goal was to replicate the feel of the 2010 Track pack–equipped GT throughout the Mustang lineup.
So, with the GT getting the new motor, trackpack-level suspension and optional Brembo's, what is Ford going to do for a Boss package? Please don't say stripes and wheels!

That kind of scares me that they skipped the prototype period I read in 5.0 Mag that they skipped over quite a few things! I think im going to sit back and watch it for awhile and let the 11 buyers deal with the little bugs if there are some! And no Boss for 12? I dont want just stripes and wheels eithier Im hoping for a few things like ECU reprogrammed and Free Flowing exhaust and some more power in the engine bay! More displacement not a supercharger mybe!

Agreed. With hearing this and the major price increases from 10 to 11 (as if 09 to 10 wasn't bad enough) I don't feel so bad about not having that new V6 engine.

Yeah, I was a little taken aback by the prototype skipping, too. But I'm still gonna get one! I figure they've been working on this one for a while anyway. It's sort of a derivative of the FR500C "Cammer" motor, anyway. And I'm sure they've had hidden mules of this engine running around for a while. In any case, I can't wait to get one. I think I'm over my BMW phase now. I'm just not that douchey. Time to return to my "roots."
