After all the roads were clear, I spent the majority of the drive back resisting the urge to hammer the throttle for the first time. I made it quite a while actually.... and was SHOCKED when I first downshifted and punched it. So much faster than the 5.0 86 Bronco I was used to, lol.

The really sad part is discovering all of the flaws you missed on the initial test drive and walk-arounds
Just think how its going to be for me, going from a I-4 135 HP 5-speed Hyundai Elantra to a 315 HP V8 Mustang....

Lol I went from a 4 banger toyota corolla for the v8. Funny, the previous owner went from v8 to a hyundai compact.

My prior daily driver was a Civic and there is a difference. Congrats on the LL find. For me, the color just embodies all that is Mustang and was the only color I was considering. It took me awhile to find the right one.

Before the mods start, have a game plan. Don't skimp, and do it right the first time. Doing it on the cheap means it will cost you twice as much in the end. There are plenty of writes-ups on the internet and these cars are very owner friendly when it comes to the mechanics IMHO. Whatever you do, don't stated looking at FI - that can be a path of endless spending.

My 08 "deluxe" GT, pretty much stock, on the 17 inch bullit rims, weighed 3350 with half a tank of gas at the track. Still had the spare/tools, and random things in the trunk from work.

Anyway, congrats on the limer! Cool color and wingless trunks look so good. I've been looking for a silver wingless trunk to replace mine since I bought it.

About 2 months ago I was driving a 3.1L V6 170 HP Chevy Malibu. I thought the Chevy had a nice acceleration compared to my dad's Ford Explorer but compared to the mustang it feels like a mule! You really have to get used to the acceleration. Its been 2 months for me and I still don't really have a hold of it. Make sure that while at a red light/stop sign, you are not too close to the car in front of you while accelerating. Other than that drive safe and have a blast!

Replica, my whole point was that he could take that much weight and rotating mass off the car. Your Deluxe car at full curb weight has been listed any where between 3415 lbs to 3460 lbs, and my car delivered with 2006 full premium package minus subwoofer was listed as 3480lbs or so. Ford was never clear about the listed weights at various levels. I think your weight proves the cars are lighter than all the magazine listings were at the time. All the better. Taking weight off is still a great performance improvement. Erik

lol, ever since I put on my tune (couple days ago), I have to be really careful when I accelerate when it's wet out or my tires will spin, and it doesn't take much pressure on the gas to do that, but then stock tires will do that

Yeah, haha, when I was getting used to my stang, leave yourself some distance between cars cuz it will close up the gap fast even if you let it cruise!!

Well I just got back, after stopping off for some dinner with family, and showing off the new ride of course, and it was a blast. The power will take some getting used to definitely.

I'm taking it to my mechanic probably Friday to give everything a once over to make sure we are good from that standpoint.

Also, maybe its just cause its its a much stronger car, and the Hyundai being quite as a snail, but is the transmission making a noise when shifting normal. It seems to only make the noise when I am trying to baby it, but when I take off hard, I get here anything.

Anyway, off to purchase some sequentials...

Thanks for the help

What do you mean by "noise"? What type of noise? What are you doing when it makes the noise? I doubt its an issue... Probably just an unfamiliar car sound.

Mine is kinda clunky compared to other cars Ive driven. It also makes a bit of a whine under normal driving conditions, but it never struck me as unusual. I didnt even notice it until the ford tech took it up the road and back, and when he came back he said "Did it always make that sound? Ive never driven a GT before, but the V6s dont make that sound". I just sort of said ".....What sound??"
