I think I'm around $4,500 so far without any labor. Damn that makes me feel sad but at least my car looks great....

The one (engine) in the car right now was $20,000...

That's one expensive 3V - I know! Hell, I sold my Dan Saitz 400" 2600 hp small block for $15,000!

Yea I try to block all that I've spent out of my mind. Over 15k, and thats not including the whipple, and clutch that's going on this spring.

About receipts adding up - yeah, they do. And they add up a whole lot faster now than they used to. With only two mods and a FSM I'm into it closer to $2k than I'm likely to tell my wife (paying cash does have its advantages, guys).


Proportionately my GT will never hit the mark where my '79 Malibu sits right now, though. About 12 to 15 years ago, the last round of mods on that car plus a little body work and paint ran right around double the full original price, and that's with me doing every bit of the labor except for machine shop work on the short block and driveshaft.
