save your money with the throttle body spacer and use it towards a tuner. spacers are a waste of money. and be sure to get a CAI that REQUIRES a tune...its so worth it. everyone's favorite first mod.

Short answer..NO. You will not notice a difference without a tune to go with it. My budget is thin also but I saved the money for a tune from Brenspeed and bought my CAI used from a forum member, Totally worth every penny!!

what about using the diablosport with a CAI, is that better than running a 93 tune w/ say a k&N intake? like the fipk

I am on a tight budget as well. I used just the K&N FIPK on my stock 07 GT auto and I really did not feel a difference alone. It seems to breath better after 4000rpm but really didnot pull any harder. Sold it and bought a Jet perform module/tune to try it out ($150 new) and definity noticed a difference even on 87octane gas, 91 premium is better, and little better gas mileage. The car is more responsive and shifts firmer, BUT it is a very conservative tune.

Together with madatory Tuned intake and SCT tuned by brenspeed, vmp, etc you would definity gain 25hp with a JLT intake/C&L street. But I have other expensives to focus on.

Throttle body spacers do not work on fuel injected cars, it is just dyno error gains that everyone try to make a sales pitch on. They rarely even help the old carburated cars.

So if I got a 2nd hand Roush CAI kit, did I buy the right kind of CAI or should I invest in another (not really worried since I only paid $20 for the kit). It was the full kit and is the exact same CAI kit offered on the Roush site.

Cai is basically worthless without a tune. many can actually put vehicle in failsafe mode even the ones that don't require a tune. Also, the tb spacer junk of the past cars won't help on our 3v's. On a limited budget, a used(unlocked) tuner would be a great buy and a single tune file from brenspeed for $75. The tune would be noticeable even with a stock vehicle. So that would have much more impact over a non tune cai and tb spacer.

$20 for a roush CAI is a good deal. its the same as airaid CAI which is what's on my dad's GT and it works pretty good without a tune using the insert, i can feel it pull a little harder, and the engine is a little louder. in both these CAI's you can take out the insert and get a tune for it and its even better.
