2010 NAV Users & Traffic Info
Interesting.... I just logged in again and syncmyride reports my car is running v3.01 and that an update is available. Is that really true?
I guess that would be why the traffic thing isn't working...
Was my car built out of date in December?
Thanks again!

You're referring to the SYNC Turn-by-turn directions, as part of SYNC v3 (Traffic, Directions, and Information). This isn't integrated NAV, which is what I think the OP was asking about.
Nevertheless, I'm interested in why it dropped you off over 3 miles away. Did you destination USED to be where it took you (e.g. did it move recently?) What was the name/address of the place you were trying to go to? When did this incident happen? I want to look into this issue more.
And no, to update your route to compensate for traffic, you have to issue the 'update route' command, as the mapping and traffic data live on the SYNC network servers, and not in your car (which is why you don't pay the $2K that integrated NAV owners have to pay). Thus, your car just follows the initial route given to it by the SYNC Services network (which DOES look at traffic when it's calculating a route for you... but you are correct when you assume that you're being routed according to traffic conditions when you downloaded that route).

as for my issue,
I was trying to get to a place called sports blast. Its address is as follows:
Sports Blast Shelby County
19220 Hwy. 280 East
Birmingham, AL 35242
I was coming from my home.
When I called in for directions I was sitting still in my parking spot and didn't move the car until it started giving instructions.
The place it dropped us (my wife was with me) off at was a small shopping mall on hwy 280 in inverness, Sports Blast is (I found out later on) a medium-large indoor sports complex that has been in that spot (not shopping mall) for many years.
When in dropped us off at the shopping mall, we wondered around for several minutes thinking it was hidden down a side road or behind some trees or something out of the way. After we decided it wasn't there we called my sister in law thinking she knew but she didn't know, then I went to two different gas stations in that area and they had no idea.
Finally I walked into a waffle house and a person behind the counter told me it was about 3 miles up the road over a mountain towards chelsea.
I left th house 45 minutes early knowning it would take about 15-20 minutes to get there. I ended up 10 minutes late.
I see, I thought it was the same NAV system in all models just that one had a screen and another just a text display.
