Default TPMS

I'm about to purchase some wheels and tires for my 2010 Mustang on the internet. The only problem is that they don't have the TPMS sensors on the wheels. Can I use a SCT X3 to cut off the TPMS light in the dash if it goes on?

From what I've been told, No. It's a government mandated safety feature, with no easy way to disable. Also, Ford changed the type of system they use after '09. Up to '09 they used the band type. Now they use the valve stem type, and the 2 different systems aren't compatible. I found this out the hard way, as I have an '09. I purchased '10 GT take-off wheels, thinking that I would only need to have the TPMS reset, only to find out it can't be done. Mine has the info system, so I have to push the reset button every time I start the car. You get used to the idiot light, I don't even notice it. Hope that's been of some help.

Just get the wheel company to supply you with the sensors, and the programmer its easier that way. The tuner will not turn off the light....

You cant disable the system, but you can change your sensors over from your own wheels. You will need new valve stems, these are also different that the 09. Just find a valve stem repair kit for the 10 before you take it in.

Mondo:

I cannot access ebay from work, but I searched TPMS on ebay/google and found four valve stem style sensors for $100. The dealer installed them on OEM 18" rims with my winter tires and all is good. I have not deflated a tire to test them, though...
