Default Tire Size Question

Will a 255 fit alright on 9.5" rim? i have heard it will fit, but that 9.5 is the max width. Someone else said they don't think it will fit. Does anyone here know for sure? Thanks

It depends. 255/??/?? What size exactly? If it is a low profile tirelike a 255/40 it will fit. If it is a 255/55/18 or something like that, then no. This is just based on the bfg g-force tires. I don't know if other brands will run exactly the same, but they should be really close.

most any major brand tires website has a spec chart. look up the particular size and the rim requirements should be there. the inportant thing is for the sidewalls to be as close to vertical as possible. you can stretch a skinny tire over a wide rim for the low rider look but that akes the sidewalls very vulnerable to punctures and the tire can pull off the bead in a very tight turn at speed.

255 is milimeters. Thats about 10 inches. It will fit no matter the aspect ratio (30, 40, 45..etc...)

Check into that. BFG lists on thier website that a 9" rims is max for a 255/55. Also I did nothing but sell tires for my last 2 years in college. Sidewall construction is an important factor in what fits and what doesn't. Oh well, doesn't matter. 255/45 will fit so you are in good shape.
