Default Axleback tune?

Read through TacoBills great axelback stinger install. Definitely something im considering doing soon. But Ive read all over the place how sensitive the engine tune/chip/computer thingy is and if you install a intake and what have you, you need to tune it so as not to mess everything up. With the axleback since its really only the muffler replacement and more for the sound than straight horsepower gain is that necessary?

Axle-backs really don't add hp on a stock GT and a tune isn't required at all. It's when you greatly increase the intake of air in the '05+ cars that require a tune. There are some no tune CAIs out there, but not sure if they're worth all the trouble in comparison to the added hp gain in a tuned CAI setup.

Thanks so much! Exactly the response I was hoping for. When I feel alittle more adventurous about messing with my engine i'll invest in a tuner and CAI. But for now i just want the throaty bit louder noise first : P

That's the route I went, mufflers then Tune/CAI.

Tune/CAI FTMFW! It will make such a huge difference you'll have a permanent grin like The Joker.

Axlebacks (or anything beyond the rear 02 sensors) do not require a tune.

A stand-alone CAI is barely worth 3-5 RWHP and even the non-tune required CAI's have been known to throw a CEL. The CAI & custom tune combo from one of the better tuners (Brenspeed, Brookspeed, VMP, Tillman) and NOT the canned tunes from SCT, Diablo, AM or even the FRPP tune, will add 15-25 or more RWHP.

The first mod I did was the CAI and tune from Brenspeed. I read through the forums here and was convinced. WOW what a difference!!! If you are hesitant because you think it will void your warranty or its a major engine change....its not and it can be put back to stock in a matter of minutes if needed. I ordered my Flowmaster axlebacks and I should be installing them friday. I am ordering my O/R H pipe sometime next week. Good luck.
