Default Delete plates

I'm thinking about getting some Steeda Billet Charge Motion Plates and now I'm curios. I know I will need a new custom tune for the car, but what exactly is that tune for? If the tune is just to disable the motor for the stock butterfly valves, then couldn't I drive without a new tune. The reason I'm asking, is because I'd like to do the install, but I'm considering getting my car dyno tuned, and don't wanna waste the money on a tune just so I can drive to the dyno.

Also, anyone got any dyno sheets before and after the delete plates, I thought I read that you loose low end HP with these. just curious.

Thanx

From what I hear you will be able to make it to the shop, but you'lldef need a tune quick

I have them. I didn't feel any loss of power. Felt an increase kinda like the UDPs. The tune is to disable the butterflys and put more fuel into the car due to the more air going in under 3k. I would also recommend getting the economy ones. only difference is nitrous ports. so save the 100 bucks. also if you plan on putting a twinscrew on later then dont bother also because they will be useless afterwards. Would I recommend them. Yes I like not having that 3k pop in power and having smoother power. Hope that helps

And if you decide to get them definitely get the economy plates not the billet ones. the economy ones are half the price and do the same thing. only a few vendors still have them left, if you want i can pm where to get them.

Or just save for the C&L or FRPP intake manifold. Built in deletes and extra gains up top (best w/ cams and headers for N/A). Plus helps even more w/ turbo or centri.

I'm looking forward to tests of the FRPP manifold once it's released in a month or two.

Yes it disables the motor that controlled the butterflies on the factory plates. You'll throw a CEL if they are not disabled.

The more I look into the C&L intake, the less i'm interested. It seems geared more towards drag cars, and since I drive mine as a DD, it doesn't seem helpful at all.

Nearly every dyno comparison shows a loss in low end torque, same mid range- 5000 ish, then higher top top end and/because higher rev limits.
