Masking tape around the sides. I heated mine up with a blow dryer to about 80F. Dont know if that helped at all. I used a plastic wedge and carefully pryed it off. It comes off pretty easily but the 3m tape is a PITA. I picked off the biggest chucks I could with my fingers and used a rag and alcohol to get off the rest. Hope this helps.
I should be more specific just in case. But I put masking tape just under the lip of the cap and about 3 inches away on both sides just to ensure the wedge didnt scratch the paint.

Oh man this was the biggest pain for such a simple thing. I tried to get mine off on a 35 degree day which was really the problem. I used the heat gun and levers and all sorts of things but it took a while and destroyed my trunk (not too bad but to me). Anyway that doesnt really matter better it has a decklid now and you will never see it again. I would wait for hot weather if you can.

I took fishing line, wrapped it around a pen on one end and another pen on the other end. I heated up the badge with my blow dryer, and 'sawed' through the adhesive, using the pens as leverage and so the fishing line wouldn't cut into my fingers. When I felt resistance from the adhesive, I stopped and heated it up again. I continued this process until I was finished.
Getting the adhesive off is the worst part. I basically dabbed the entire area with Goo Gone and let it sit. Then, I heated it up and used a foam pad and my fingernail to remove the leftover adhesive. It took a while and I thought I was never going to get it all off, but I eventually did.
