Default Pypes H pipe too loud/leaking?

Hi, I recently put a pypes o/r h pipe on and have flowmaster mufflers. I'm not sure if the flowmasters are 40s or american thunder, they were on the car when I bought it. They are black with polished tips. The exhaust sounds good, except around 2300-2500 rpm. I don't know if this is normal, but it seems to get alot louder around this range, only when accelerating. I don't mind loud, but it gets obnoxious, and sounds sort of like a bad exhaust leak, and my friends have told me it sounds bad from the outside as well.
I don't think it's leaking, as I welded the pieces of the h pipe together myself. Is this the "trumpeting" sound I hear about? Would switching to stock mufflers tone it down a bit? Thanks.

its funny you posted this

i have a off road H + flowmaster 40's, installed the H pipe in nov 09 and today was the first day that i really got to drive the car

1st thing my friend said to me was wow...your car sounds like its running rough, almost like you are dragging tin cans behind your car

thats the trumpeting with an off road H and the only way to fix that is resonators

Are your flowmasters oval or square boxes? The american thunders are oval and 40's are square. I was told 40's are louder after I bought the ATs. I am getting ready to install an o/r h I'll let you know how it sounds.

Stock mufflers would tone it down for sure. maybe also look into some gta's. I'm guessing you have the American thunders. I also have the trumpeting with my stingers as well as o/r h.

Magnaflow mufflers fixed that "holy crap what is that awful noise coming from my exhaust that I just poured a ton of money into"...noise. Vid in sig.

I bit the bullet and paid $45 for a Ford dealer to look my car over for exhaust leaks. As long as you tell them straight up that it's an aftermarket part they're looking at, and that you don't want them to do any work before checking with you, you really can't go wrong.

Good thing you didn't get an X-pipe. That's the mistake I made. It's WAY louder and more annoying than the H-pipe!

I have the same setup and it sounds great, maybe you do have a exhaust leak where the H-Pipe connects to the manifolds or at the muffler clamps, they are both known to be problems with both manufactures.

It's trumpeting, and it most likely does not have leaks. Mine sounds like leaks before it heats up too and there are none

Get a prochamber. Deeper and smoother than the h without trumpeting
