Default HELP QUICK!! Hurst uninstall

I am trying to pull my hurst to install another STS. I have all bolts out, but can't get the son of a ***** out through the console. I remember struggling to get it through when I installed it, but eventually got it.

I have a guy coming to buy the hurst in a bit and need to get it out asap. anyone have any tips?? I've tried everything and it just won't fit through the console hole. I've removed the top interior console already.

Any helpe would be appreciated.

go in from the interior. Long end first with the shift lever held back towards the shifter. go down as far as possible and then manuever the front back up. If you have a friend have them go from the bottome to help you fit it in

Sorry If it's not exactly clear, it's hard to put into words

just keep F'in with it. when I installed mine I had my buddy in the driver's seat lowering it in while I messed with it from under the car. it was a PITA but eventually just fell in with very little effort. who knows what happened, I'd suggest doing the same thing I did in reverse. with two people farting around with it you'll get it out.

Same procedure in the exact same order but the reverse as when you installed it.

Took about 45 minutes, but I finally got it. Couldn't tell you how, but it just eventually happened. It's like the most aggravating brain-teaser ever!

Due to the rattle and very notchy feel, I felt it was time to replace it. I got a killer deal on a new B&M short throw ($119.95) and am impressed so far. Quality seems superior to the Hurst, and she shifts are much easier!

Oh yea.....and it's QUIET

sounds like when I was installing mine

funny that you mentioned the noise, mine did that at first and it bugged me. I saw a post where guys were adding a little oil to the bearing and that was fixing it. I kept meaning to try that but never got around to it. funny part is that mine has been dead quiet ever since then, I honestly forgot that it used to make noise

I'm sure this is late, but it's MUCH easier to install / remove from the underside of the car, driver side of the tranny.
