Default replacing the battery...

So I might have to replace my battery soon. Is anything affected when I disconnect it and install the new one? I have a tune, have heard the codes appear sometimes. Thanks.

I think you should be okay. I had to take my battery out to install my o/r h and it was out over a day. If anything, just reflash the car back to stock without turning on and then later flash the custom tune right back on it. Also, our cars have adaptive learning to our tunes, so many say it is good to reflash every now and then anyway. Which I will be doing after the snow disappears here in IL.

You might loose your radio stations, and you might have to re-calibrate your electric windows (see owners manual).

Just that short of a period you will be fine. I disconnected the battery this winter while in storage. I think Monday I am going to yank it out as its finally nice here. Will find out then, lol. SCT is going with me for sure just in case, but that should not be an issue.

Should I go with a replacement battery from Ford or can anyone suggest a better brand battery?

MotorCrap batteries are, well, CRAP. A lot of members like the Optima line but I think they're overkill. My first choice is Interstate, followed by Sears DieHard and Delco.

There are instruction in the Owners Manual on what you may have to do IF anything needs resetting or recalibration. You have TPMS on your '07 so you may get a TPMS error which should go away aftre some driving. I'd be sure the doors are closed and everything is turned off before you lift the battery leads. We often disconnect the battery to erase any Adaptive Learning programming that tends to bog the car down so it's really no big deal.

One other thing that I've yet had to contend with but have heard is that replacement batteries may not have identical case dimensions to the OE battery. I've also heard that there may be an insert in the battery tray that can be removed which would aid getting a slightly bigger (taller, I suppose) battery in but I've never confirned this.

I'm with Nuke, I like Interstate - I bought a size 40R Megatron. The manual calls for the 40R as an optional, larger battery. All I had to do was remove 2 black plastic blocks and the Interstate settled right in. No drama with fitment. I had an Optima in an older car and it was OK, but not worth the price. I have read Interstate batteries have the lowest return rate of all batteries sold in the US.

Actually, the inserts are for a longer battery. I have Group 96R. If I wanted to go to Group 40R, which is longer, then the plastic inserts need to be popped out.
