when I bought my 09 the 10's were out. I sure my car sat a while but I didn't care. the only problem I found was the dealer swirls the balls out of it, nothing a polisher couldn't fix :)

So I went on Cars.com and played with their car builder. Taking the 2010 mentioned in the OP and building it. According to the website( which might be wrong) invoice came to
$33934. I noticed some people tossing around an invoice number of 30k. Is 30K invoice minus hold back and other dealer perks? So his xplan landed around +/- $500 of invoice. Also when I was shopping for my 2010 last month Galpin still had 2009s on the lot. They all had $4000 rebate tags on the window. 400A Rapid Spec 400A N/C N/C Engine: 4.6L V8 Transmission: 5-Speed Manual Leather Bucket Seats Radio: Shaker 500 AM/FM Stereo w/In-Dash CDx6/MP3 Tires: P235/50WR18 BSW AS Wheels: 18" Wide Spoke Painted Aluminum 99H Engine: 4.6L V8 INC INC 44K Transmission: 5-Speed Manual INC INC PAINT Monotone Paint Application STD STD 4 Leather Bucket Seats INC INC 912 Radio: Shaker 500 AM/FM Stereo w/In-Dash CDx6/MP3 INC INC SIRIUS Satellite Radio SIRIUS SIRIUS Satellite Radio INC INC 53B Comfort Package $595 $518 6-Way Power Passenger Seat Heated Front Seats Auto-Dimming Mirror POWER 6-Way Power Passenger Seat INC INC 65A Heated Front Seats INC INC MIRROR Auto-Dimming Mirror INC INC Compass COMPAS Compass INC INC 43S Security Package $395 $344 Active Anti-Theft System Wheel Locking Kit 14A Active Anti-Theft System INC INC 17L Wheel Locking Kit INC INC 455 3.55 Limited Slip Axle Ratio $395 $344 64V Wheels: 19" Premium Painted Luster Nickel Alum $895 $779 Tires: P245/45WR19 AS NONTR Tires: P245/45WR19 AS INC INC 51H HID Headlamps $525 $457 59G Glass Roof $1,995 $1,736 Total Price $37,045 $33,934 |
I bought a "leftover" new '08 GT Convertible in early 2009.
Car was loaded with a MSRP of $36,400 and had only 35 miles. Has all the options I wanted and triple black...........my first choice. Paid $22,400. Still happy with the deal. Point is.........get what makes you happy at a price you can afford. |

Wait for a 2011. patrick |
The dealer here has a new (not yet owned by anybody) black 2009 GT500-KR on the lot. When it was new, they wanted well over $100k for it. Now the window price is down to $67k. I think they would have sold it a long time ago if they weren't such jerks about the price.

I bought a '97 GT 'vert that had sat on the lot most of the year. It had a similiar number of miles. I didn't have a single issue with it. I would (as I did) just make sure you get a killer deal on it. I probably got the best deal on that '97 that I ever got on a new car.

I should probably put my 2 cents in here.
I bought my Shelby GT vert in April of 2009 and its build date was August of 2007! So there were several issues. First was that the black trim between the 2 side windows was fading and had to be replaced. There were also several scratches that needed to be buffed out, and squeaking noises that had to be fixed. I figure the top's parts got dried up sitting on Galpin's lot for so long. They also should have given the car new wiper blades, as the ones that came with it didn't last 6 months before chirping when I used them during El Nino season. You don't need to worry about "flat spots" on modern tires. That's a leftover from the days of bias ply tires. As far as the OP, the GT sounds loaded and so was probably difficult to sell and the dealer wanted a showroom queen, so won't bargain. Find out what the correct buying price should be and offer not one dollar more. As far as those suggesting that you wait for a 2011 those are going to cost a lot, especially if you want the new 5.0 GT. There will be markups above the new, higher MSRP. I also have a feeling that Ford won't be making as many due to the increase in HP on the V6. |
all of you guys posting on here about asking for a better price arent reading the OPs original post.
the OP listed an xplan price. there is no negotiation on an XPLAN price, you get that price plus whatever rebates are currently being offered. you will not get a better deal on a ford then the XPLAN price period!!! the reason that 2010 is over $30k is because of the options (glass roof, security package, etc...) i got my 08 gt premium with the xplan, rebates, and owner loyalty cash for abour $25k out the door OP i wouldnt worry about the car sitting on the lot for that long, my car was on the lot for nearly that long too. In fact they had to jump start it so I could test drive it!! |
