I was looking at 2 units right now the:

Clarion NX409

Pioneer AVIC-D2

Which would you suggest if not another one ? Also what is all that I would need other than the headunit to have it work with my shaker 500

i bought the same clarion last week and i love it! Crutchfield has it on sale for like 500 (i found it for like 20 cheaper but crutchfield has amazing customer service so its worth it)
I have some aftermarket speakers that i have yet to install but the clarion makes even my stock ones sound cleaner. The only complaint i have about the clarion is the remote and the dash install kit. The top of my dash kit isnt flush with the dash so it sits back a little, i just need to put some washers on the bolts or something. The remote works fine but you have to have it pointed fairly close to the headunit. But that may be because when i use the remote im like a foot away so any inaccurate signal is more noticable.

I would go with the clarion for sure. Install was a breeze, just dont slice your hand open! I cut my hand pretty deep with a box cutter trying to trim a bar off of the dash kit. Thought i was gonna have to get stitches but it stopped bleeding very fast. A sharp blade makes a clean cut...

I had an Avic-D3 in my '05 and I loved it. Not sure what the differences between the D2 and D3 are

Is this unit (Clarion) compatible with the factory amps in a shaker 500? What about the satalite radio?

I got the wire kit from Best Buy I think, for around $20. Works perfect with my Shaker 1000. The one I have doesn't work with the speed sensor and the auxiliary jack in the console.

This is something like what I have, don't remember exactly what I have.

This is the one you need for everything to work right.

awesome, what did you all have to buy for it to work, I have a shaker 500?
Cause I just found one on ebay on auction currently at $250 but I don't think it comes with anything other than the head unit

My clarion came with everything needed. The gps antenna and sirius attachment all came in the box, but there may be some other adapter needed for sirius that im unaware of. I do know that it came with a ton of wires! took a while to figure out what was what
