Unhappy No Super Shaker. Whipple instead?

It looks like I can't get the Saleen super shaker because I just learned it's not smog legal in California. Ive always thought all Saleen S/C's are smog legal. It doesn't make any sense because the Saleen Dark Horse is ok in Cali and it has a super shaker. I wanted to have a supercharger and do something to the stock hood or get an aftermarket hood. I might have to go another route and get a Whipple from Lethal Performance. Anyone use a functional ram air hood with a Whipple? Pics?

have fun with that.

I tried to buy the generic Saleen blower for my Expy with 5.4 3v. And they had lost the CARB on it as well.

Thought of a whipple with a true Ram Air is pretty cool

The Saleen 475 kit is actually smog legal IF you use Saleen's tune. I wonder if I can get the Saleen 475 kit so I have the CARB e.o. number and adding the Super Shaker on top of it. I'm thinking that might work. I know it'll cost a bit more buying the two separately.

I had the whipple on my 07 GT and used the califonia dream hood, which had the functional ram air hood and dumped the air right at the filter. Looked real sharp.

the Kenne Bell is CARB legal, just throwing that out there. kinda a bummer since the super shaker is a pretty cool setup if you already have the shaker hood.

Sorry to hear you turned away from the Saleen shaker. I'm sure you will be happy with the whipple. I passed up an opportunity at a whipple ho for a great price about a year back and I regret it.

The Kenne Bell is nice but too quiet. I like the whine.

That's actually a Kenne Bell setup according to the article.

The smog laws really suck. We're all going to die in 2012 anyway so why have these laws. LOL

I might go with the Saleen 475hp kit from Brenspeed and add the shaker portion separately. That's the only way I know of to make it smog legal. The 475hp kit is smog legal and has a CARB e.o. number. I'll just run Saleen's smog legal tune when it comes time to smog the car and switch back to Brenspeed's custom Super Shaker tune at other times. The smog tech will just look for the CARB number on the supercharger and he should pass it. This should work according to someone at Brenspeed.
