Default squeaky sound

ok so when my car is on, cold or hot, there is a pretty distinct squeky sound that comes in cycles. i popped the hood (though it was a bit dark) and all i could see was that it was coming from the motor pulley or what not, and it happens everytime the white part on the belt when over the pulley. can someone tell me about this and whati should do?

If there are no loose/misaligned pulleys/tensioners try some belt dressing. Any auto store/wal-mart/etc carries it. Just lubes/conditions the belt. Could be a simple fix for it.

nice, i'll check that out. thanks.

i think that might be it, since the squeak just coems from the belt going around the pulley. so i'll check the rigidness of all related moving parts and see if i need that.

I'd try the belt dressing first, it's like 15 bucks..But I'd get it looked at anyways just to be safe. I had a Subaru that started squeeking...Thought it was no big deal. About a month later my camshaft snapped. Something about the harmonic balancer being out of whack. I'm not a gear head so much so I have no idea if that could happen in a stang.
