Default terrible job!

Got the car yesterday (it was raining). Immediatelly noticed some scratches that where not there before. No problem, the body shop Asst. Mgr told me they'll fix it. I took the car home and when it quit raining I washed it. What a terrible paint job!!!! It looks like they didn't clean the surface good enough, there are several dirt particles in the finish and there is even a palm print embeded in the paint in the rear pillar. There are several stains in the roof and hood, which they didn't have to paint. It seems they spilled something that damaged the clearcoat. Tried buffing it out but didn't come out. I measured the ride height and the passenger side rear is 1/2 inch lower than the driver side. I'm calling the insurance adjuster first thing Monday morning to let her know about this horrendous job performed by one of their "preffered" shops. Then I'm taking the car back and hopefully they'll do a better job the second time.

That's just disappointing [:@]

Do you have a choice of what shop you can take it too because it looks like these guys don't know what they are doing [sm=sorry.gif]

1fast, i was going to ask if you had a choice or if the insurance company gave you a list of shops. it sucks to have such a new car and have to have that amount of work done. i wonder how much damage has to be done before it is considered a total loss. did the local ford place do the work?

The insurance company has a list of preferred shops and if the work is done in one of them it is guaranteed for life as long as I own the car. This work was done at a local Ford Dealership body shop which is in the list. I'll give them the chance to redeem themselves. Will see what happens.

I'm not sure. If they were responsible for so much shoddiness the odds of them getting it right are like 20-1. But you might be stuck with them cause of the insurance...
Take photos of all the mistakes and poor painting.
When you go back, show them the photos so they know you've documented it.
Let them know if they don't repair correctly you'll have to report them to the BBB, and they might lose their "Preferred" status.
And maybe see if you can find out who put the handprint there! Call CSI! Then cut it off the F&$#**er!! LOL

That just sucks dude. No matter who's fault the accident was, the car should look as good as it did before the crash! This is a NEW car, that's what you pay insurance for.

Insurance companies always try and cheap out on that stuff...an example,

I had an 03 Dodge Ram 1500, Brand New, some moron backed into the right rear quarter of the bed in a parking lot. Insurance company wanted to pull and patch..cheap..Body Shop I went to was Top-Notch(not on their list, but it was a certified insurance facility), the manager of the shop went to bat for me and called the adjuster, saying it would be impossible to make it look right with just a pull and patch, said the WHOLE panel had to be replaced..and being that it was a NEW car, they really had no choice! Got the WHOLE panel, PERFECT JOB!!

I'm sure in your case they had to have replaced a panel, but the shop sucks, the range of experience in these places is amazing! Could be some rookie painted it!

I would be the squeaky wheel if I were you! Call them EVERYDAY!!

Oh hell no!! You are NOT obligated to use any shop the insurance company tries to tell you to use. It's on them to select 1 of at least 3 estimates that YOU gather. This company is not looking out for your best interest, but theirs.

I know hind sight is 20/20, but you should've had the car reviewed by a couple body shops you chose, reviewed their proposal, and then sent the best 3 to the insurance to have their say.

This is also why I said you needed to tell the insurance company you wanted a check made out to you for depreciation of the vehicle. I would ask for 10% of the cost to repair. Unfortunately you will always find things wrong with it and if you try and sell it a dealership will know its been in an accident and want to buy low.

Man I think I'm pissed of enough for the both of us. Lol![:@]

I did my homework before making a decision where to take it. The Ford dealership Body shop I took it to have a good reputation that's why I took it there. They have a second chance and better take advantage of it.

I'm sorry to hear this brother. I hope everything is taken care of as soon as possible. Meanwhile did you get the new exhaust system?

i have never had good experience with ford body shops. they have always left overspray and streaks and dirt particles and god knows what else on new paint jobs. my insurance company told me to go WHERE EVER i wanted to go...they wrote me a check for their estimated amount and told me that if it wasnt enough to have the body shop call them and they would just send more money. I love Safeco...they didnt even raise my insurance either, still only paying $140/month.
