Exclamation Serious problem with computer, need help.

Okay so, I ordered some new tunes from AM and put one of them on my SCT SF3. I got the 93+ performance tune, my car had some 93 octane gas but it was close to being empty. Anyway, when I uploaded the new tune, I accidentally forgot to "Return to Stock" on the tuner. I turned on the engine and the car started running incredibly choppy and the car started shaking. So I immediately turned off the engine and returned it to stock, then retried the new 93 tune. The car kept running choppy and shaking. So I tried to drive it a little bit, hoping that it was just a temporary thing, but it wouldn't happen. So I went to the gas station, got some 87, filled her up, returned her to stock again, and then loaded an 87 eco tune. It's STILL doing the same thing. This is worrying the hell out of me, I hope I haven't done permanent damage. Is there any way I can undo this? My car also has the Steeda CAI and I'm sure that I ordered the tune with the CAI. Someone please help.

Does you CAI have an insert for the MAF? I installed my Airaid CAI with my brenspeed tune and my car did the same thing. I was told to put the insert in and the car ran perfect.

Yeah, and it's been running perfectly for about three months since I installed it and the tune.

I think if you don't return to stock, the hand held will overwrite that "stock" file.. not to scare you as I'm not 100% sure.

You can try giving AM a call.

Nah...I don't *think* so. I'm trying to remember whether or not I've swapped tunes without going back to stock; I think I have. I've never read anything that said you had to return back to stock before loading a different tune.

It sounds to me like it's either the CAI insert issue or your tuner didn't get something right. If I read correctly, you're saying that the stock tune works fine, but none of the custom tunes work correctly. If you haven't already done so, the first thing I would do is remove the CAI and put the stock airbox on, and then return to the stock tune. If the car runs fine, then the stock tune is fine and you know you haven't somehow overwritten that. That will also tell you that it's either something to do with ALL of the tunes that were written for the car, or it's a CAI installation problem.

Good luck!

Hmmm somehow I remember reading having to return to stock in order to plug in a new tune.

Just going straight off of what I think would be logical, it downloads the tune that is currently on the computer, which it will probably assume is "stock" and overwrite the "stock" file. Now that is just speaking from what I think, I haven't gone to the SCT site.

you dont need to reload the stock tune. when you switch tunes it will skip the 'backup' or 'downloading' of the stock tune since the tuner knows it already has done this and just load the new tune.

Email AM and and make sure you list all mods you have installed in the email to see if something got missed

I gave AM a call, probably just a classic case of trouble codes. I believe the stock tune is not working, yeah, due to the CAI. I'm not going to take out the CAI, AM is writing some new tunes for me right now. We'll see how it works out. Thanks for the help though guys!

Problem resolved. Turns out AM sent me a code not compatible with my Intake. They found the problem and immediately sent me a new set of tunes. Yet another bravo to American Muscle's customer service team!
