In any case, shorter gears will make your car accelerate faster, but you will also run out of gear faster and have to shift more, which slows you down. Also, don't discount the fact that the SRT-4 weighs, like, 300 pounds wet.

Ok, probably not, but weight is a big factor. It's something mustang guys throw in Camaro guys' faces all the time (yeah, it may be down on power, but at least it's not a fat pig!), for what it's worth.
Camaros are fat pigs. That aside, I figure I am still a little bit in the learning curve on shift points which are definitely shorter and the accel is better/faster. I need to get my buddy out on the open road with his 06 and do a side by side you know...

Oh yeah choke him till he taps out! LOL

Forgive me for the reference but in "Fast N Furious 2, the scene where our two hero's (joke) are gonna race the two badass muscle cars (camaro and cuda). Remember when the muscle cars revved up their fat motors and said "American muscle"!!! Thats us.........your friend with his toy neon no matter how fast, will always be a kids car. He will brag he beat a mustang, you will never brag you beat a neon.

Fast is good, but nothing beats the sound of a sweet v8!

I'm sure there are a lot of "undercover" cars out on the street. You'd have to look at them carefully and not just by the type of car they have. There ARE sleepers.

also from what i've heard/read up here at high altitude the turbocharged cars are more efficient than naturally aspirated.

I used to have a sleeper F150. Rust bucket but that thing would run with about anything on the road...in a straight line of course. It's long since gone to the car crusher in the sky.

This is true - When I had a 2002 Corvette Z06 a guy in a Jetta kicked my a$$. No telling what was in that car.

tell me about it, I remember running this old beater looking civic and whoppin' on him a couple times. It was obvious he had a turbo because you could hear it spool from a mile away lol I guess his solution for lack of traction was to crank up the boost to max-whatever it was, after that, he was gone. Turned to be a high 11sec car trapping in the 120s on slicks. With street tires though, he was killing his threads rofl
