Talk to Jeremy at VMP Tuning as he is one of the leaders in V6 Performance.

On the 2005-2009 an easy trick was to use a take-off muffler from a GT. However I know the exhaust tip size was increased to 3" on the 2010 V6. I believe it may already have a free flow muffler.

Jeremy offers a package of the C&L 83mm Intake and a Custom Programmed SCT X3 Tuner for the 2010 V6 Mustang (Im thinking its around $625). Thats likely going to be one of the best bangs for the bucks. A tune does more for the way these cars feel to drive than any other mod in my impression. They just respond so slow and shift so lazy (automatics) in stock trim. Get a regular 87 octane tune (for a 16 yo budget or emergency situations) and a Premium 93 (or 91 if thats all you have) tune for when you run the good fuel or go to the track. He can also give you a tune for optimized fuel mileage that wont be as responsive for just cruising.

If you want a louder exhaust and want true duals you will have to talk to some of the V6 guys and listen to some youtube clips (poor substitute for in person) in order to find out what the best option is.

You might ask Jeremy's opinion on exhaust while you are talking to him. He also might have a lower cost option on the CAI (Like he did on the 2005-2009).

You do know a V6 with duals sounds very different from a V8 correct?

The next mod after that would be a take-out 8.8" Limited-Slip Rear End (factory 2005-2010 V6 is 7.5" Open Differential) from a GT fitted with 4.10 Gears in my opinion.

PS If you havnt already you might want to search the two 4.0L V6 specific (General and Technical) sections of this forum.

I think you should go with the Ford Racing Performance Parts dual exhaust kit;

CAI/Tune is a great beginner mod. The stock tune is sluggish, especially for an auto. I love Brenspeed. I run their tunes, they feel aggressive, though I do have a GT.

I have the FRPP exhaust also, it is one of the best exhausts for the S197 V6's. Can't beat it. Plus for the 2010 it has a nice rear valance to put on so it looks factory.

Exhaust buys you nothing in performance unless you're thinking headers/cams.

A stand-alone CAI is useless, too. But you already know that since you've gone ahead and educated yourself using the search feature on the forum.

CAI & tune combo is the main power-adder short of going FI.

so for right now they best thing to buy is CAI & tune? and true dual exhaust really isnt worth it unless i get headers/cams? im just trying to find out what to buy first. if you want make a list of things to buy in order of importance (this goes for anyone) im really interested to see. Thanks!!
