Default Compression : (

i got out of work early the other day and asked my boss if i could do a compression check in the bay as we were very slow.

i tested all six cylinders and every cylinder EXCEPT number six read 210 PSI

cylinder number 6 read 60 PSI the first time. i re did it and god 80 then the third time i cranked it 12 times and got 180 PSI.

So i think im burning a valve or something.

Any thoughts on this?

*We had a Ford Ranger in the shop the other day the V6 3.0L and it had barley any compression in cylinder number 4. it was burning a valve and i was told it was cheaper to replace the engine then do a valve job on these engines. The Brand new engine we got for $1200*

Your engine might have been stopped in a position with a valve on the verge of being open.

You could pull the valve cover on that side and look for anything unusual and also you could do a leak down test on that cylinder. Leak down test will give you a better idea where your loosing compression.

A way to tell if the compression leak is valve or rings is to squirt some engine oil into the suspect cylinder and recheck the compression. if it comes up, it's rings. If not, most likely a valve.
I agree with atomicpunk, a leakdown test is the best.
