I plan on replacing it with a Hurst short throw. THe white cue ball and shaft look retro and fits the red interior like it was made for it.

Install a Hurst Vertical Gate Shifter.

I had one of these in my 69 Torino Cobra GT... AWESOME... you never miss a gear!

That Hurst brings back memories. I had on in my 69 Mach 1.. MINT! I will probably go with the Hurst again, but not the gate shifter this time..

Has anyone installed the Hurst shifter? I believe it is used for both the V6 and V8 trannys. Does it affect the warranty? I hate the stock shifter!

Ok for someone who hasn't driven a Hurst short throw, can someone explain how it works, or how it's different from the stock shifter?
RKSport has one that i'm interested in.

Professor wizard?...
Thanks

I don't know about all the versions of Hurst ST Shifters.. I"m only familuar with the VertGate.

The one I had... moved forward and back about 3"

To Upshift you pulled UP on the ring .. shifting forward put you in 3rd... Back to 2nd... forward to 3rd and back to 1st.

Taking off.... you DON'T pull the rings... just slam it forward to second.. back to third.. forward to forth.

yea... I had a 4 speed.

Reverse was a push to the right from center and then back a little.

Center was Neutral.
