Default Rattle Rattle Update

Hey Everyone,

I threaded last week on the rattle from the separator plate when the car is cold. Well, took it to the dealership, and they confirmed it, along with my lower ball joints that were shot at 36,900 miles! Warranty Co. covered the ball joints, but not the plate, since it is not a mechanical failure. The plate was redesigned thinner, which eliminates the oil-canning effect. They said they would pay for it if the trans was removed, and there is evidence of it coming in contact with the flywheel....if not, I would have to foot the bill...part $30, labor $600. Not taking the chance of nothing showing up....Mechanic said it's not worth it. How has anyone out there fixed this rattle problem on their own? I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks, Scott

$600 is way too much for a trans removal. Now that I have that off my chest the trans doesn't have to be removed to replace the plate. It has to be unbolted and pulled back. The plate has a cutout that will allow it to pass by the input shaft. At least mine does.
