Default Push Button Start Installed!

For my early birthday present yesterday my parents got my a push button start for the stang. I couldn't wait to get it installed and after researching how to do it a bit online i found that it wasn't that easy, but still totally worth it. For the install you end up having to take apart the whole drivers side of the dash as well as the console and center bezel. The hardest part about the whole thing was getting all the panels off. Then you splice the starters buttons into the ignition wires which was a bit unnerving at the time. Overall I am really happy with the mod though, it is a really cool feature and it looks great on the dash.

It was pretty bright outside so i tried to get the best pics i could. The color around the button matches the air vents perfectly. Let me know what you think...

Your car is a manual? You may want to do a search on here. One unlucky member took his Mustang in for service and the Ford Tech started it up in gear and the car drove into a pond! He was using the key fob. I don't know if yours came with a key fob, but I would make sure if you ever take it in, they know in advance that it has a remote start.

Thanks 07_Stang. Its not that kind of start system though, its like the ford gt one, you have to have the clutch in to work it. After you push in the clutch you just press the button above the radio. I will never put a remote start on my car.

I think this is the kit that you have to put your key in the ignition and THEN push the "Start Engine" button.

Regardless, seems like a rather impractical, albeit fancy, mod. Good install, though.

yeah, they look neat, but makes no sense what-so-ever. If I have to turn the key to the run position before pushing a "neat" button, why do I need the button?

This is the kind you need to use your key for. Still very cool looking though.

The button there is primarily for "looks cool" factor, and there's nothing at all wrong with that. There are only a few systems out there that completely eliminate the factory key.

The push start button system I have DOES eliminate the factory key, and a cap is placed over the ignition so you can't even see it. I have zero need for factory keys now, just a key fob that has to be on me when I approach the car. I created a thread on it if anyone wants to check it out. It's pretty expensive though. It cost me almost a grande total.

OP.... Great looking mod!

link please dave.

@ OP....looks pretty good there. I'm not a fan of adding the extra step. I like the idea like what Dave is describing

What about steering column locks, anti-theft issues, etc...

Here's a link to the thread I'm started on my system:

Again, my option is MUCH more expensive. Details in my thread.....
