Default Help with some minor stuff, please

Am making an appointment to bring my '08 GT vert to the dealer for scheduled maintenance. While it there I wanted to have them look at some annoying noises that have been driving me crazy. I fully expect to get the "cannot reproduce" or "that's normal" responses, but was hoping maybe someone could give me some ammunition on these problems, e.g. possible causes for me to point to or fixes that other dealers have made:

1. Rattling from driver's side window: When the window is fully up, and I am driving over bumpy road, the window rattles like it's loose (or maybe its coming from the vert top). If I press against the window with my hand the noise goes away, ditto if I lower it a bit.

2. Clicking noise from windshield header or convertible latches. When I am driving over rough road (or sometimes even if I am just turning sharply) I get a clicking noise that is coming either from the convertible latches or somewhere inside the windshield header. Sometimes I can make the noise go away if I readjust the top by opening it and reclosing but not all the way, so there is some tension in it (i.e. I have to pull down in order to close the latches.

3. Clicking noise from clutch pedal: When I press the clutch all the way down I hear (and feel) a little "click" noise. Another dealer told me this was normal (said it was the sensor that keeps the car from starting unless the clutch is depressed) but I notice that sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn't, for example if I press down really slow then no click.

Oh, and I've got the speaker buzz that is actually from the window switch panel but I saw the TSB on that.

I know these issues seem kind of petty, but little things like this drive me nuts! Thanks.

Sorry can't really help much on the first two but the clutch clicking is not normal, it should go smoothly to the firewall

#1 and #2. Since you were able to make the rattle go away by pushing on the windshield and/or rolling down the window, it's possible the top may be just a bit loose. There is an adjustment screw on either side of the convertible frame, about two bows back from the windshield over the front side windows. They are tension adjustment screws. Turn them each clockwise to increase the tension Go about a quarter turn at a time and recheck the tightness at the convertible top latches. You might be able to make it snug enough to eliminate the rattle.

#3 is normal. As long as the clutch pedal travels smoothly, that soft little click near the bottom is, in fact, the switch that enables the ignition when the clutch is depressed.

Wow, that information is very useful. Thanks! How do I access the two screws? Can I get at them from the inside with the top up?

They gave me the it's normal b.s. for squeaking pads on my car, just waiting a bit then I am going to put some Hawk pads, so yeah they usually come back with the "I's normal" b.s.

I've seen reports of problem #2 before. The fix was to replace the latches.

Bottom line is that it's your car. If you're unhappy with it, don't be satisfied with the dealer until it's fixed the way you want it to be. Two dealers told me an engine noise was normal, and it ended up being a stretched rod that was causing the piston to lightly tap two exhaust valves. That rod eventually gave out and carved up the inside of the motor.

Try recalibrating the windows
to fix the rattle when fully up.
Owners manual for procedure...

The clickin clutch is not right.
Its not the safety start switch.

diagnosis fail

Tried the window calibration already, thanks.

If not the safety switch, what could it be?
