Default Window Tint Issues?

I called to get my windows tinted and the shop told me of possible issues with the door windows. They told me that some Mustangs didn't have felt strips and they would need to install them. I have felt strips but then another Mustang owner told me they put fine scratches on the tint.

I'd appreciate some feedback on this. Anyone run into any issues tinting theirs?

put the felt strips on yourself, its not hard. just be weary of the hot days where it might start to loosen up the glue and it might start to get on the windows.

The new felt strip was installed starting with the 2008 models. The earlier models are prone to scratching the tint because its a velcro instead of a felt. This thread explains how to install moleskin to fix the problem.

Or you can order the 2008 + inserts from the dealer and replace the entire "rail." If you want to go the moleskin route feel free to PM me. I ordered some before I got my windows tinting and didnt realize until after I didnt need them on my 2008 so I'd be willing to send it to you for a few bucks.

Thanks, I'll double check and see if the tint guys are talking about installing the moleskin and not felt, maybe I misunderstood them. These guys are pros, they do all the high end dealers here in Boise, I trust them to do it right.

Moleskin or felt is a must. Moleskin is about $29.00 online.

How dark do you want it?

Feast your eyes mustangfun101, Taco Bill is the man. From what I hear, Moleskin is the way to go.
