Default Nitto555 tires..

Hello, im a noob when it comes to tires.
I have nittos on my stang and have been on the stang since its first mile!

My question is, how many miles do tires last?? I have the NT555 rear tires: 275/35/ZR20. Front: 255/35/ZR20

I just hit 35,000 miles on my stang.

when i hit my 30,500K on my stang, i went the dealer to get an oil change. then they said my tires were really bad!! that i needed to get new tires asap! ive driven about 5000 more miles on it and tires seem ok? i guess... idk if the dealer was just bull****ting me..

also, i DONT do any burnouts, drift, race or anything like that..

i can still put my fingers in between the lining of the tires, but just barely..

has anyone here driven more than 35K on there same tires??

Thank You!

It all depends on what the tire is rated, how you drive, how well you maintained tire pressure and alignment, yada-yada. Go to the Nitto website and see what they rate them at. Most tires I've ever put on a car have been rated 40,000 miles. Some did better; others did worse.

The dealer is probably giving you BS to sell you tires but you can do the rough check with a penny inserted into the tread. if the tread doesn't reach the top of Lincoln's head then it's time to start looking.

look at them yourself..do they look bald? Take a penny and stick it in upside down..does the tread go above the top of Lincolns head..if it doesnt then they wont pass inspection.

LOL oops I missed part above he said get the penny..LOL

Nitto555 wear rating is 300. At 35,000 miles, I'd expected they'd look bald as all hell...

Thank you Nuke and 05runner! that was useful information.. just did the penny trick and it clearly reaches lincolns head but barely doh lol.. i guess i can still go for a few hundred miles..

@ joutcell: no that wasent my first oil change, it was just the last time i went to the dealer to get my oil change.. i do it every 5000 miles lol i should of been more specific about it..

Sounds like you'll need tires soon if not now. As long as the roads are dry I wouldn't worry. But if they're wet, drive a bit more conservatively.
