Default Question on Installing an "X" Pipe

I'm looking into replacing the factory "H" pipe with an "X" pipe. I know any performance gains will be minimal at best, but that the difference in sound is noticeable. I want to keep the stock cats on, so a shorty pipe would probably be my best route.

Does anyone have any experience with either the Pypes shorty X or the FRPP shorty X? They are about the same price, so probably about the same quality. How much of a difference will this make?

Thanks for any help.

Lol you start the post by telling us the sound in difference will be noticeable and the power will be minimal and then finish us by asking how much difference there will be.

I'd say your first statement is probably correct. It'll sound a bit more even and probably deeper, and the power gains will probably be unnoticeable.

Shorty H or X?

WTF do you mean?
Are you talking about a midpipe?

Why not put in some shorty headers instead?

From other threads I have read and even listen to a few clips, the pypes splice in X nor the FRPP splice in X makes too much of a difference in sound. I would save your money and get a x-pipe with hi-flow cats.

+1...pypes sells a set for this...it's a different sound for sure...had to put stock mufflers back on. If you get on it people know for sure but cruising even with shorties and this it is very peaceful

No matter what you do, I highly recommend high-flow cast. Exhaust gets a lot more aggressive sounding.
