Default When Is it Too Late For FI ??

Is 170k too many miles? Everything looks good but just curious. I'm guessing if the engine is in good order it will be fine with reasonable boost.

Any tech thoughts/experiences appreciated.

I wouldn't do it with 170k miles, but to each his own i guess.

lol @ Hammeron

i would say you do have more of a chance breaking something at the mileage you have on the car. how much would be highly debateable. I agree that with reasonable boost (4-6 psi) with a goal around 400 HP maybe and you can still get a good life out of the car over running 8-10 PSI and 450-480 hp. So common sense applies obviously. And you look to be thinking like that already. if you got 3 grand extra lying around in case something happens then i wouldnt worry anyway

Go for it and if it dies, get a 5.0.

BTW, where do you drive that you have 170k miles on an '06?

I'd go for it just to see what these cars are really made of. If you can throw an HO kit at it and it doesn't pop, it'll definitely prove that these cars are built to last. If it does pop... the aluminator is only around $3,000 now.

Heh - I did a quick google to check on that and I found that when Late Model Restro says they have $15 flat rate shipping, they aren't kidding!

$15 to ship a short block. Wow.

$3300 for their aluminator. Maybe they built shipping into the price?

Continue to amaze others by taking it into 200-250K territory with forced induction on it.

I think you should do it! All you have to lose is a little money....and we are all doing that.

I say, go for it. There have been a number of people who popped a low mileage engine.....so if for some reason you would be unfortunate enough to blow one with 170K on it....you can always tell yourself it was time for a new engine. If you are successful, you have a good story.

Though I would never use N2O on my cars, I would juice it until it blows up then do an engine swap
