ANOTHER HID thread/question SORRY :-(
I know, I know
So I've been searching this forum and others and have read every thread I could find regarding HID lights (Pricing, installation, warmth) for our mustangs. I have a few questions. I am looking at giving this set a try.
1st - I noticed in the picture, they appear to be capped (unless that is the aparatus they use to establish a high and low beam?????). If they are in fact capped, will they be OK to put in my 06 that still has the factory "difuser" cap in the headlights already (the thing that prevents glare), or should I remove those from the factory headlights before the install?
2nd - Many sets i've seen include at least 2 (that i've ssen) additional harnesses you can purchase. One for pulling the power for the HID's right from the battery instead of the factory power wire for the headlights, and the second harness for preventing the HID's from triggering an error code or a dash warning light (I'm assuming this is for the sets that only use one of the factory connections and require you tape off the other one as a means to prevent the car from thinking the light is missing or not connected?????)
Has anyone found that we needed either of the 2 additional harnesses for the install in our mustangs (again mines an 06)???? And has anyone purchased the set I linked above???
TIA

#2, mine are using the stock harnesses (not extra harnesses purchased) and it works just fine, no flicker and are as bright as they are supposed to be. I also haven't gotten any error lights you are talking about nor have I heard of them.
I'm not sure what HIDs those are in the link mainly because I'm at work and eBay is blocked but I bought my step dad a $45 8000k kit for his F150 which also uses the H13 and they work fine, they aren't quite as bright as mine (mine are 8k too) and they tend to flicker a little bit, I had to buy a relay harness for his. But the moral of the story is, we don't need a relay harness.
Hope this helps.

As far as the caps, I believe it has to do with preventing glare due to bulbs that don't have the coating or whatever it is that prevents glare. I believe somewhere during the '06 or '07 production they went to a coated bulb so you don't see some '06's on up with the cap inside the headlight. You WILL see the caps in the fogs , at least thru the '07's.
