Default hurst billet shifter failure

i was driving home from a cruise sunday. i stopped at a light with cars in front of me. i pulled out and when i shifter into 2nd i shifter felt mushy, no notchyness. then i went to 3rd and there was nothing so i thought i lost my tranny. i costed off the road into a gravel lot. my shifter had lots of play so i took off both boots and i can see that the support rod of the shifter that connects to the tranny was off the main shifter housing. i can push and pull the shifter 3" cause it is still connected thru the rear slide bushing of the shifter. so i managed to wedge the shifter forward enough close to the original location and managed to get 2nd and 4th gear. i got home, lifted the car up and saw that the (3) 1/4-20 bolts that holds the shifter support rod to the shifter housing were gone. ask me what i used to wedge the shifter forward close to it's original position!!! haha!!

Sounds like an easy fix? Just use some locktite and it shouldn't happen again.

to wedge the shifter forward i used a small bottle of baby powder, my t-handle hurst shifter ****, dental floss inside a kuzy. thats all i had!! all three were wedge together side by side to hold the shifter forward enough so i could use 2nd and 4th gear.
