Default Tune Question - Programmed Back to Stock and it Ran Like CRAP!

I was thinking about selling my tuner and programmed my car back to stock this morning. I started it up after returning it to stock and it ran like total CRAP!!! I mean, really bad. It was sputtering and idling weird, and I had a check engine type light come on.

Programmer: SCT-X3

Mods: In Signature Below (Of note, converted to dual exhaust, CAI, 4.10 gears with LSD)

Tune: Tillman 93 Octane All-Out Tune

I was told that my CAI required a tune, and possibly my gears needed it as well (not sure if that's for performance or speedo calibration), but I didn't expect it to run like that. I mean, it seriously seemed screwed up.

So, I reloaded the Tillman All-Out Tune and she purred like a kitten.

Does that seem normal to anyone?

It's normal Dave. Your CAI needs the tune. Without it your car is sucking way too much air for the stock tune jacking up your A/F ratio. Let me guess, you started it and it started bogging down real hard sputtering/bucking and finally stalling? (if you let it run that far lol)

I returned mine to stock as well before bringing it to the audio installer and forgot about the CAI. Mine did the same thing.... Scared the **** out of me until I realized what it was lol. To return it to the stock tune you have to re-install the stock airbox. I'd keep the tuner.

Yes, with your mods you have to run tune,
has to cal CAI size for A/F ratio and gears
for speedo.

Off subject, I was AT2 early '70s, Kitty Hawk, Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club,
RVAH-6, RA5C Vigilantes, plane nobodies ever heard of.

I have the Tunable Inductions CAI from DeMolet.

Thank God! I'm keeping the tuner for sure. I'm sure driving around on a stock tune (if I decided to reinstall the factory air box) would drive me nuts. This Tillman Tune I have gives my V6 lots of juice. Don't laugh V8'ers

Anybody know of a more aggressive (but safe) tune that the Tillman All-Out Tune? (might make a new thread on that)

That's awesome! I'll tell you man, the Navy's changed a lot since you were in. I've been in 17 years now and it's changed a LOT since I've been in.

Not only have I heard of the Vigilante, they have a model of it at the Pax River museum, so I've seen it as well. But I am a bigger aviation history buff than most of your run of the mill ATs.

Hell, it's changed a lot in the 8 years I've been in.
